Black Summer: Season 2 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) John Doyle Globe and Mail Don't be gulled by "zombie apocalypse." This ain't The Walking Dead or any of its spinoffs. It's formally brilliant, politically loaded, terse and mind-blowing. Jun 17, 2021 Full Review Black Summer: Season 2 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Dustin Rowles Uproxx It is intense, and certainly not a show for everyone. For those who like their zombie shows pure, uncut, and undiluted, however, Black Summer continues to do the trick in season two. Jul 3, 2021 Full Review Black Summer: Season 2 | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Rich Cross Starburst More accomplished and more confident, Black Summer ends with enough mysteries and unanswered questions to merit a third season. Rated: 4/5 Jun 28, 2021 Full Review Black Summer: Season 2 | Rotten Tomatoes (4) David Opie Digital Spy The randomness of their deaths, and knowing that anyone could go at any time, is a huge part of Black Summer's appeal. But because it's so relentless, character beats are few and far between, which also means you end up caring about them far less too. Jun 23, 2021 Full Review Black Summer: Season 2 | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Paul Tassi Forbes Black Summer is currently one of the best zombie entries across media in season 2 here, and a picture of what The Walking Dead has lost over the years, and something it can probably never reach, given the formula it's now locked into. Jun 23, 2021 Full Review Black Summer: Season 2 | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Matt Fowler IGN Movies Black Summer getting a Season 2 is a wild and wonderful thing but if Season 1 had been the end for the show, it would have been hauntingly excellent. Colin D I'm a huge fan of this show. I really enjoyed the realism and the action-packed scenes. Unfortunately, they decided not to make a third season. I've been searching for something similar to watch. Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/12/24 Full Review Ewan D This second series was extremely disappointing. They basically just kill of main characters straight away in the worst ways possible. Not as in cruel and painful, but as in the most tensionless, lame, no build-up ways they could possibly do so.I wouldn't have been surprised if they were actually trying to kill off this tv show, they couldn't have done a worse job.The quality between the first series and this series is so apparent because it goes from 5 stars to 1 in my eyes.Director change? I don't know, to be honest I don't even care. The only way I'm going to watch series 3 is if they see this review and hire me to direct it myself or at least be on site to guide the movie in some sort of direction that could maybe, just maybe save this reckoning that has occurred.I will of course require payment and accommodation, paid flights and my name in the credits, thank you.Ewan x Rated 1.5/5 Stars • Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/17/24 Full Review D S From what I remember I kinda liked this show haha but then again I like all zombie shows/movies Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/19/24 Full Review D L Lots of fallacies with this season as well. Just not much common sense- for instance, make sure all the doors are locked when you find a building. Don't shoot up the only refuge you find for miles. The constant battles between the living was overboard. Why wouldn't they just band together, even just for the sake that they screw themselves over if the other person doesn't die right and becomes a zombie chasing them? Also, when did Rose turn into a sharpshooter? Not many characters seemed to even have skills. No one knows how to hunt or forage. The flash of scenes is too much. Also, they kill off most of the old characters and then don't give you a chance to really like anyone else before they die too. Also need to explain what happened better with the zombie outbreak. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/10/23 Full Review Charles M When you see one star BS2 the first thing your going to enevatable going to hear about next 9.99 out of 10 times is something about the good old walking dead. I mean these are the same people who will tell you the walking dead started its decline the second Rick ( Andrew Lincoln) left the show. Witch then kicked off the Darly Dixon Cult/Sick o fans. So they just keep going for another 5 or 6 seasons hoping and hoping that something would happen that would take it back to the first 3 seasons. All clue you in it never happened. So why am i talking about the walking dead instead of Black Summer. Because its the Stans who invested 11 seasons of there lives waiting for something to happen that never happen that will never admit they should have bailed after season 4. There so heavily invested there going to tell you its sliced bread all over again. And its that blindness that wont allow them to admit most people they know no matter how times they reminded there friends they didnt even finish watching walking dead and still havnt. They will never be able to see or admit what a masterpiece Black summer season 2 is. Its these Stans that unfourtanetly will in all likely hood with there alliances is exactly what will keep BS2s score hanging around 65 just low enough to ensure there will be no season 3. Meanwhile AMC keeps pumping out more trash...Negan and Maggie..or Daryly this or Rick that trying to reseruct the bones from 12 yrs ago. Just let it go. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/10/23 Full Review M B Having seen The Walking Dead, this is not for me. Watched the first series and managed to get through it with persistence. No depth to any characters to get in to and just seemed like a lot of shooting, heavy breathing and running with a few zombie attacks. There was not build on a story line or much meaningful dialogue. The 2nd series came along, just more of the same boring long drawn out scenes of running away from zombies. Got a few episodes into it and lost complete interest so just turned it off! I think it was the most boring I've ever watched apart from Prison Break.
